Pearson 150 Sportive 2011

Pearson 150 Start

After the success of last year's Pearson 150 sportive, we felt that we had no choice but to bring it back again for 2011. This year's sportive will take place on Sunday 22nd May 2011.

We will be offering the same choice of routes as last year: either a 150km route that will take you the scenic route through Surrey and Sussex on your way to Brighton and back, or a 75km route that will show you the lovely back roads of Surrey and a small part of the North Downs. Both routes start and finish at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton. The 150km route is a tough ride, taking you through the Surrey hills, the North and South Downs with Ditchling Beacon just before you reach Brighton; however, the views from these hills are spectacular and completing all 150km is a real achievement. If the sportive bug hasn't bitten yet, or you fancy something a little more measured, the 75km route is still suitably challenging to give you a strong sense of accomplishment when you finish.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

We're running the event again in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, a charity that is very dear to our hearts. The fourth generation of the Pearson family to run the shop, Roger, was diagnosed with cancer and the help that he and the family received from the Royal Marsden was invaluable in helping them through this very difficult time. We are therefore delighted to be able to help out this very worthy cause for the second year running.

For those of you who rode the sportive last year, we've made some improvements for 2011, namely better route markers, more money going to the Royal Marsden, more entries available, marshals at strategic points along the route and an extra feed/watering stop on the 150km route. We can't guarantee that the weather will be as good as it was last year, but we'll do our best to ensure that you get everything that you need to make it a fantastic day out.

There's loads of information about the sportive on our dedicated sportive page, including maps, photos, reviews, and a video from last year's sportive. We'll be posting updates and more information on that page as we get closer to the day, so keep an eye on it if you're planning to ride.

If you're convinced already and want to sign up, you can click on the sign up button at the bottom, or check out who is already signed up by clicking on the Entry Lists button.

If you have any comments or suggestions about the sportive - either this year's or last year's - please let us know in the comments section below. We hope to see you there at the start line on the 22nd May (and of course the finish once you've made it round!).
